Interstellar – like you’ve never experienced it before:
with real space experts!
You love sci‑fi, wonder what’s really going on with black holes, or want to know how researchers actually decode the universe? Then come join us!
This event is free of charge! You can register and reserve seats here. We apologize that the registration form is available in German only. Please use a translation tool if needed.
When: 24 June, Start: 3:30 p.m., Doors open: 2:30 p.m. (duration approx. two hours) Where: Filmpalast Görlitz, Saal 1
Together, we’ll watch key scenes from Interstellar and check with top scientists what Hollywood got right (and wrong).
Featuring:
- Brian Schmidt – Nobel Prize–winning physicist who proved that the universe is expanding at an ever‑increasing rate
- Mansi Kasliwal – Director of the Palomar Observatory, who studies cosmic explosions and gravitational waves
The event will be hosted by Cedric Engels – better known as Doktor Whatson on YouTube.
And the best part: you can ask your own questions – about Interstellar, black holes, time dilation, or anything else you’re curious about in science. No question is too wild.
But it’s not just about distant galaxies and black holes. We also want to talk about what science has to do with your future here in Lusatia.
Bring your friends, be curious, and experience science up close.
A seat can only be guaranteed with prior registration!
Of course, you’re also welcome to drop by spontaneously as long as seats are still available.
If you can’t make it in person, feel free to join the livestream on our website or the YouTube channel of Doktor Whatson.
Notes:
The event will be held in English with partial translation. You can ask your questions in German.
Interstellar is rated FSK 12; children under 12 may only attend when accompanied by a parent or guardian (18+).
During the public event, film and photo recordings will be made. The audience will be visible as a whole, but no individual persons will be the focus. A designated area will be available that is not covered by the recordings.
