Description

Modern astronomical observatories generate a torrent of complex data, offering an unprecedented opportunity for discovery. This presents a classic challenge: how to effectively harness this abundance. In China, we are answering this call by strategically engaging the public through citizen science, transforming science data to a broader range of fields. This poster presents a comprehensive overview of the rapid development over the past decade, and current advances in astronomical citizen science in China. We will introduce the NADC citizen science platform developed and operated by China-VO. As the core foundation, this platform integrates all well-known astronomical citizen science projects, tools and educational resources in China, aiming to encourage public to participate in astronomical citizen science projects. We also provide a brief overview of the currently operating astronomical citizen Science projects from aspects such as their content, features, type and so on.The "Citizen Science Summit in Astronomy" (CSSA), held for the first time in 2025, is a landmark event in the history of astronomical citizen science development in China. At this conference, participants from various fields such as astronomy, education, and technology discussed the connotation and extension of the concept of citizen science, shared experiences in conducting citizen science practices, and showed new citizen science projects. We will tell the key achievements and important measures introduced at the CSSA.
Our experience shows that citizen science projects based on scientific data not only contribute to the improvement of the public's scientific literacy, but also provide strong support for scientists' researchWe hope that this poster can attract more scientists who are interested in citizen science to use data and technological power to promote its greater development.
